The video in the article also describes in some detail the methodology behind the challenge and what defence hoped to achieve. We fully support the intent and execution behind the challenge and hope to see more challenges of this type in future.

12 months on, much of the technology that we started developing during this challenge is finding its way into our other autonomous systems. We’ve also continued to develop the solution and could deliver a far more capable system today then what was trialed… and I think that’s the point.
